Being Positive

Being positive. For me it's pretty difficult. Naturally I look at the negative in a person or a situation. Which is, of course, really bad: but true. You should always look at the positive in someone, not the negative. If you look for negative you're going to find it. If you try looking for the positive it may be a little bit more difficult, but I'm sure you can find it too. Look at it as a challenge. I've started this notebook that I write in every night. I write the date, and list all of the positive things that happened in the day. Even if it was a really bad day I try to look at the positive even if it's a small thing like, I had coffee or my baby sister smiled at me. It doesn't have to be huge things. Just the little things that may not have even been a huge deal when it happened. I know for me it's been great. I do it right before bed and instead of thinking about all the terrible things that happened during the day I force myself to instead look at the positive. I'm trying to be more positive during the day but when something bad is happening to you it's always difficult to think about the good. 

I've been just using some boring notepaper to do it but am in the process of decorating a special notebook to do it. I wanted to put a Bible verse on the cover of the notebook and my Mom gave me the idea of using this one:

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.

And, it's perfect. So, once I figure out how I want to decorate my notebook I'm going to put that on. I though it would make it more fun and make me look forward to writing in it if it wasn't just some boring notepaper. Plus, it'll all be kept in one place instead of being all over my floor or bed. ;) Once I finish the notebook I'll try to post a picture for you guys to see. And  I really encourage you guys to try it as well. Especially if you have a tendency to look at the negative(Like me). It definitely makes you much happier and makes even the worst of days look better. Sometimes it might be difficult to think of something but just really really try. Things like: the weather was good, someone complimented me, talked to a friend, went to the store, etc. You'll probably be surprised at how many things you actually come up with. I know I was. Even when I thought I wouldn't think of anything I end up finding more positive things than I did when I had a great day. Guess that's God telling you that even if you think life is terrible it really isn't. There's always a bright side to things you just have to look hard to find it.
