Alrighty. Halloween is coming up. Stores are stocking up on those evil witch costumes, bloody face masks, 'sexy' fairy-tale character costumes, and people are starting to talk about their costumes, decorations and what kind of candy they're going to hand out. Now, my opinion might upset some people. I know some pretty awesome Christians that don't think Halloween is a problem as long as you don't celebrate in the evil part of it. I've never celebrated Halloween(At least from my recollection. Although I think my Mom dressed me up when I was really little before she decided against it), and I've never really wanted too. I guess the thought of being able to dress up is a bit cool, but the idea that you're celebrating an evil holiday whether you're dressing up as something evil or not is not cool. I understand that being able to dress up and go door to door to get candy or handing it out seems like a fun thing. But why would you want to celebrate something that has an evil beginning and still is to some people a holiday to worship the devil. Many people say the holiday isn't evil as long as you don't dress like something evil. But why, when someone thinks of Halloween, do they think of ghosts, skeletons, the living dead, witches, werewolves? Halloween is always associated with evil. When a store starts selling Halloween stuff, it's not cute innocent costumes, it's evil the kind of scary things that you have to cover the eyes of your younger siblings the things that are even creepy to me. Google search 'Halloween' you get nothing but evil pictures. How is that not just pure evil? And why would you want to celebrate something with that kind of evil? Yes, I understand that it's fun to dress up and get candy, but what would God do? Would He want you to celebrate something that's evil like that? Something that doesn't glorify Him? I understand that if you've grown up Trick 'or Treating and dressing up with your family it might be difficult for you to see that it's evil and even clearly think about it. Because when you love doing something or have grown up doing something you blind yourself to the idea that it might be bad. Because you love it. You want to continue doing it without feeling guilty. And I understand that. There are things I love doing that might not necessarily be what God wants me to do and I blind myself to the possibility that it might be wrong because I love doing it so much. Doesn't God want you to have fun? To enjoy a day of fun? Of course he wants you to have fun, but if it doesn't glorify Him? If it actually does the complete opposite of glorifying Him? Of course not!
I hate to say it, but I know what it's like to want to feel a little bit of fear. When watching a movie or running around in the dark outside. I don't know how to explain it, but for some reason it's fun to be scared and to scare others. Fear is not from the Lord. So, who is it from? The devil. And Halloween is full of scary thing and fear. The devil is trying to hide something evil and make it seem fun. That's how he works. A wolf in sheep's clothing. People fall for it too. It seems so obvious to me that Halloween is evil but people just seem to pretend that they don't see anything wrong with it. If you have even an ounce of hesitation about Halloween. If you think that maybe it could be bad: pray about it. And even if you really really want to do i,t but you think God wouldn't be pleased with your celebration of it: Don't do it. It might be difficult. You might be made fun of or asked why you aren't celebrating it, but remember that you're not trying to please the world you're trying to please the creator of the world. You will be rewarded for your obedience. Not for your ignorance. Stay strong and choose what you think God would want you to do. Not what you think the world wants you to do. I know, I know it will be really difficult for those who have friends who celebrate or for those whose family celebrates it. Just stay home. Just make it a normal day. Distract yourself with what's going on with some movies, read your Bible, listen to music. My family has gone bowling a lot on Halloween to get a way from the Trick or Treaters. Usually the bowling alley doesn't have many Halloween things so it's a great way to try and ignore what's going on and spend some time with your family. Unfortunately, there have been a few times when people have come in dressed up, but usually there aren't any issues. So, think about it, pray about it. What do you think God wants you to do? Make sure you're not just telling yourself if it's fine. Listen to what the Lord is telling you and make sure you don't ignore Him. If you feel that He is telling you to stop or to not celebrate it. Don't. Stay strong. Trust the Lord. If He doesn't want you to do something He's doing it for your protection. Listen to Him.
Now don't take my opinions to heart, unless you think God is telling you the same thing. These are my opinions and it's what I believe. If you don't agree with me that's perfectly fine we all have our own opinions. Just make sure that whatever you choose is what God wants you to do not just what I say or what you want to do.

Here are some facts about the origins of Halloween.
The Celts believed that on Halloween that the curtain between the real world and spiritual world would be lifted and the spirits(Demons) could walk along with humans. Some people celebrated this 'holiday' and used it to communicate with the dead(Demons). They would ask the spirits about the future of their crops and weather. Some people thought that the spirits would stay on earth until they were given treats and wealth, and if they were not given the treats or wealth they thought that the spirits would trick them. (Hmm...Trick or treat seem so innocent now?) People also thought that carving a face into a gourd or pumpkin and placing a candle in it would ward of the spirits, and that if they disguised themselves like the spirits that it would trick them and they would keep away from them.
